Our second episode on George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. This week covers relationship advice from Nineteen Eighty-Four, natural society and family instincts subverted by the Party, and humanity as raw material brutally manipulated by the Party. And Book Darts. Book Darts are wonderful.
This is the first episode of three on George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. In that book, not having enough stuff is a social unifier, manipulated by The Party. Going with the flow keeps you from being able to get enough thoughts together to protest. What is more, EVERYBODY IS GUILTY OF FEEDING THE MACHINE. What is there, pray tell, to do about it? We don’t quite answer that here, but we at least we open the can of worms.
We are back! In this episode, we announce a series in which we will be going through dystopian novels, talking about what they show us to avoid as well as what it means to be human. Of course we start off with 1984 and Brave New World, but those two only set the stage!
